Dark Angels reporting for duty!

Hello guys!

So, our Dark Angels project is finished. After more than a month of work we have finally reached the end. I am quite happy with the result. We have decided to go with a level 2,5 of painting (out of 4). That means that we have used some techniques of the level 3 (mostly washes and few highlights) but we kept the amount of details of the level 2. The diorama and the miniatures are now on their way to the HOBBY MAX store in Lille, France. They should arrive in a week or so. If you're in the neighborhood make sure to step in and check them out IRL :)

Without further ado, I present to you the Dark Angels:

Dark Angels project continues

Hey guys!

So our Dark Angels project is speeding up. We have arround half of the work done already and I must say the results are pretty satisfying.
After assembling all the models I primed them with white (as usual). Then there was a decision time - I split all the models into four separate groups - each of the group was about to be airbrushed with a different colour. That specific tactic allowed us to save quite a lot of time making the whole process efficient and effective.
Here are the pictures of each group:

First one was green - airbrushed with Vallejo Camo Light Green. It was then washed with a mix of Dark Angels Green and water. As you can see we have here all the parts that will be dark green at the end - tactical squad, hands and backpacks for veterans, almost the whole dreadnought and few others.

Not only a memory remains

Hey guys!
Today we take a trip back to the day when we did our first work as the Minions team - Island of Blood with a decorative base for our local and befriended store - Grajfer.
We asked the nice guys from Grajfer to retake some photos of the minis and the base and here you can see how do they look after six months (was it really that long ago?) of pleasing the eyes of the store's clients and serving as a learning tool for fresh and unexperienced WFB younglings.

Learning the airbrush - screamers of tzeentch

Hey there folks!
I have finally decided to try the airbrush. Everyone here is already used to it and there are some who already mastered it quite well. It's time for me too I thought. The upsides of using airbrush are pretty obvious, lets sum them up:
- easy and extra fast covering with the main colour,
- extremely smooth colour changing, effects similar to really time consuming glazing technique,
- it's more convenient to paint several minis at a time, so we're saving time by working on the whole units rather that on single miniature,
- mixing paints is easy to menage and repeat thanks to the bottles specific to the airbrush paints

Horny & Pinky

Hey folks!
We are working our tushies off lately here in Minion Studio. With all the Necrons, Crimson Fists and Empire projects it's hard to paint something for our personal armies. In few free moments I managed to finish another pink horror for my deamonic army.
I decided that each of the horrors' unit will have different colour scheme. With all the colours Tzeentch provide us that shouldn't be a problem ;)
The one I finished lately is 2nd horror from the pink-blue unit (the blue-pink unit is already finished). I'm really happy with the horns on this guy. I think my glazing skills finally went from horrible to acceptable :)
Anyway, hope you like this lil' fellow.
Cheers!

Rusty Necrons 2.0

Hey,
Necrons are back :) Doing a commission of 20 Necron Warriors + 6 Oval Bases for Scythes. As our client requested we've put more scarabs then the last time - this is really good idea, bases look more "alive". Hope to spread the rusty theme all over the world :)

See you guys neeeeext time

New is always better!

Hey guys!
We have been absent for a while. Due to some IRL issues we couldn't work on the blog for past few weeks. But we are back. With a new look, clearer layout and some big plans for the future.
As for now we're busy with some intresting things.
Bania has started a new Necron project. It will be 20 warriors and 6 oval bases done in the same (but improved!) way as the army we listed on e-bay (CLICK HERE)
Me, I have finally finished my Crimson Fists combat squad. I'll post the pictures soon. They will be avaible to buy on e-bay. In the meantime I was working on my deamon army, I hope I'll have something to show you in few days also.
As for plans - I will not spoil the surprise for you but soon we'll provide new content in also new form. Well for us it will be new, certainly not for you guys :)
And as a proof that the title is true and awsome here is what an authority on the subject has to say:

Take care guys and keep it real!

Big Bad Bloodthirster

Hey dudes!

So, my Crimson Fists Project are almost done and I've already moved on to the next one - super awesome Bloodthirster for my deamon army.
The moment I saw the Forge World Deamon Prince of Khorne model I knew that he will be my new Bloodthirster. It's by far the most beautiful model by FW and maybe even by anyone else too. Its size was perfect, after receiving it I sat down to work almost instantly.
The little fella the DP comes along with was put aside in wait for better days and I started to assemble the soon-to-be Bloodthirster. I pinned his head, hands and feet to make it easier to paint it (I learned that it's necessary few times earlier and I learned it the hard way), I also prepared the base that I painted some time ago.
The biggest problem I had to face was the wings. First of all which one to use and than how to adapt them to fit the mini. After doing some research online and getting my friends' opinions on different models of wings I decide I'll be using the ones from LotR Balrog miniature. We have already used it before for Tyranid Flyrant and I was hoping it will do the trick for the Big Daddy too. And it did :) Of course it required some cutting here and there and swift hand of Brovatar (oh, his hands are so swift!!) to finish it with Green Stuff.
Now it's time for the another big decision - the color scheme. I like the standard red-orange-gold scheme but I was thinking of something darker and with black as a dominant colour. Kinda like on the this juggernauts. Or maybe some out-of-the-box scheme? Any suggestions?
Asarnil.

Oh, and here are some pics of this early WIP:

Crimson Fists are getting a scenic base

Hey guys!
My Crimson Fists' project is slowly coming to an end. The minis are painted, the only thing left to do is their scenic base. It took me some time, I admit but I had a lot of fun modelling it. The sergeant is already magnetised and he will be taking the place on the top of the hill. The rest of the marines will be placed below him in their bases' slots. I added quite a few of the battlefield debris elements, such as rocks, parts of vehicles, an ammo box, even a broken hatch.
The scenic's color scheme will be dark and dusty, I really want the marines to stand out of the background.
Let me know what you guys think. Any final adjustement I should think about before wrapping up this project?
Asarnil.

Thousand Sons

Thousand Sons are ready to go! We've added sandy pigments on their feet to show they are really living in the desert :) Brovatar made finishing touches here and there - highlighted the chaos icon, small freehands on shoulder pads and focused fire on Sorceror!

Thousand Sons are rising!

Hey,
Just a quick update on our current commission. We were delayed with it - almost 2 months waiting for some parts - thankfully our client is extremely patient :) Brovatar already started painting but today we have only after white coat WIP for you. They are gonna be dark green with gold ornaments - you can notice the pre heresy Thousand Sons icon on their chest sculpted also by Brovatar! We have something special prepared for the Sorceror - stay tuned!

Crimson Tide p.2

Hey guys!

Yesterday I finished the minis for my Crimson Fists squad project. You'll find the pictures below.
I'm quite pleased with the result, especially the banner.
If you're not familiar with the sergeant model - it's a 25th anniversary limited edition sergeant who's based on a cover of 2nd edition of Wh40k rulebook. His pose and the orc's head have a "old-time" look which can be  a downside for some people but me, personally, I love it. Old Games Workshop miniatures that had almost 2D look had something in them :)
Anyway, here are the pics, I will be working on their scenic base from now on. Hopefully, I'll finish it soon enough.

Take care!
Asarnil.

Necron Fleet Finished

Hey!
That was a busy week. I finished the army and attended the first major 6th edition national tournament - 3City Heresy in Gdansk, Poland. Army has won the "Players Choice" award and finished on 6th place (similar roster was first - it probably had better general )

 Scythes have really attracted attention.

Those guys were praying for their transport to survive  At the end they've held some objectives and almost never have died.

It was my first tournament using Necrons and I never really had a chance to face Overlord with my Space Wolves but holy cow he is OP  With mindshackles, 2+/3+ and Warscythe - no one could match him (except other Lords)

Who cares about them? 20 points, no value, no firepower etc. Super fast denial unit that's what those guys are - real pain to deal with them.

And another look on bases. People said those are cool - especially the "embarked unit" spot and magnetized sticks for easier transport.

Army is now available on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/170903294421?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_6264wt_1397

There were once three Storm Ravens...

Hey there folks!

I finally finished the three Storm Ravens for my personal The Mentor (count as Blood Angels) army. I was speedpainting them to get them ready for the big tournament in Gdansk this weekend we'll be attending with some other minions (here is the link: HERESY - no english version though). It will be the first national tournament here since the 6th edition hit us. And man, it hit us hard :)

So, everybody knows the flyers are OP as hell now, that's why I decided that the core of my army will be Anti-Air. And what's the best AA in the game? Other flyers...
Here they are, my three cudly storm ravens which are so big I had to make the photos outside with my courtyard in the background :)

I hope you like them.
Asarnil.
