Big Bad Bloodthirster

Hey dudes!

So, my Crimson Fists Project are almost done and I've already moved on to the next one - super awesome Bloodthirster for my deamon army.
The moment I saw the Forge World Deamon Prince of Khorne model I knew that he will be my new Bloodthirster. It's by far the most beautiful model by FW and maybe even by anyone else too. Its size was perfect, after receiving it I sat down to work almost instantly.
The little fella the DP comes along with was put aside in wait for better days and I started to assemble the soon-to-be Bloodthirster. I pinned his head, hands and feet to make it easier to paint it (I learned that it's necessary few times earlier and I learned it the hard way), I also prepared the base that I painted some time ago.
The biggest problem I had to face was the wings. First of all which one to use and than how to adapt them to fit the mini. After doing some research online and getting my friends' opinions on different models of wings I decide I'll be using the ones from LotR Balrog miniature. We have already used it before for Tyranid Flyrant and I was hoping it will do the trick for the Big Daddy too. And it did :) Of course it required some cutting here and there and swift hand of Brovatar (oh, his hands are so swift!!) to finish it with Green Stuff.
Now it's time for the another big decision - the color scheme. I like the standard red-orange-gold scheme but I was thinking of something darker and with black as a dominant colour. Kinda like on the this juggernauts. Or maybe some out-of-the-box scheme? Any suggestions?

Oh, and here are some pics of this early WIP:

Is it Halloween already?

The cemetery is probably the most used fantasy scenery - this is where the vampires begin their new life, this is where the dark intrigues take place, this is where the necromancers perform their mysterious rites.
In the wargames we're used to the fact that our models are placed on bases decorated with sand and grass - as usual on the battlefield. But you can imagine the armies leading their conquests in the darker landscapes - among the tombs, remains of skulls and bones.
We just finished our project of cemetery bases tonight and we are happy to share it with you.

Those bases are avaible on our ebay.

Lone Wolf (WIP2)

It's time for a second part of the duel between Lone Wolf and Genestealer.
At the beginning – the was only chaos and disorder.
The base starts to take shape.
After few hours the base is almost finished – only the icicles aren't done yet. After finishing the whole project I will describe with details how I made each element. Do you like it so far?

Lone Wolf (WIP)

Hey,
I had an idea of a duel for months now. Finally I have some time between projects to start it. As always I imagined more that I could handle as a side work - some ideas have to wait for the next project.

That picture was the inspiration. Unwrapped box of Space Wolves Terminators and some Genestealers from Space Hulk made the rest. The idea is simple. Frozen hill/rock/mountain, a deadly environment - Lone Wolf seeking for a fight. I have choosen this particular Genestealer so the duel will have double meaning. The serious one - Lone Wolf is fighting to the death, has lost his helmet, wounded opponent is approaching, in few seconds only one will survive.

The fun part is that it may look like genestealer is giving the helmet to his owner - thats why I want to make the inscription on plate for example: Is this your helmet sir? What do you think? Which aspect you found more appropriate - grim or fun one?

I went with chain fist and storm shield for the equipment - model will be playable and I really love that combination. Terminator armour and storm shield make him really unbreakable and with chain fist he can even open vehicles with AV14.

I started to work on the scenic base. I’ll show you more after the weekend. Probably :)

Hope you like my little idea.

Special Delivery - scouts in Land Speeder

Hello!
Today I would like to show you how to use neodymium magnets to make an interesting and functional scouts with the land speeder. Our scouts will be able to get on and off their transport.
First, of course we assemble the Land Speeder. Scout being a pilot is not provided with magnet because he has to operate the speeder after delivering his buddies.
Then carefully plan where each of scouts will have its place. Remember that they shouldn’t interfere with each other and that they should be easily removable.
As the scout sitting on the front passenger seat will not be the operating the multi-melta, we need to find a suitable place to attach the weapon.
Then put the magnets in the holes drilled in Land Speeder, scouts and multi-melta.
Check if everything fits.

Now, it’s time to make appropriate bases. Because almost all the scouts are in sitting positions, they will be sitting on bases too. And what they can sit on? Here, we can let our imagination help us - it can be branches of trees, the ruins of a city or desert rocks. I decided to go with more mechanized landscape - the remains of vehicles, ammunition box and to keep some diversity - a tree trunk.
We put the magnets on the bases and we check if everything fits properly.
Now the only thing left to do is to paint them and test them on the battlefield.

Hot or not? Lava Bases (WIP)

The minions have decided that one of the first modeling projects will be the lava bases. Although
not every army will be able to use them, there are many that they will be perfect for: Daemons,
Warriors of Chaos, Salamanders (Space Marines chapter), Chaos Dwarfs, Chaos Space Marines,
Grey Knights, Ogres.
We present to you what we have managed to finish until now. Most of the bases are ready, there
are only the details that need a final touch.

Here's how they look like painted:
